Florence's Home Makeover
Hall Family Our Story
My sister-in-law Florence is in need of a drastic and complete home makeover on her over 36 year old home for the following reasons: A home is protected by its roof, and her home has the original shingles, plus another layer on top of them. Both layers have curled up allowing water onto the plywood underneath causin it to rot. This condition is causing several leaks in the interior of the home. All the sofit and facia on the eves of the home are deteriorated and near falling off the home. The interior of the home needs a plumbing and electrical system replacements due to leaks, and mal-functioning switches and fixtures. The foregoing is just the "tip of the iceberg", but gives a verbal picture of how bad off the home is at present.
Florence only has a 3/4 part-time employment position in food service, and only makes just over minimum wage, which puts her in the low income yearly range. She has no immediate or extended family support and resources to at least have the home re-roofed! Florence's health is slowly deteriorating (she is 64 years of age) due to the following severe handicapping conditions: Rheumatoid and osteo-arthritis; type II diabetes; severe lower back problems complicated by arthritis; moderate heart irregularities; and she is in need of surgery on both knees. Her husband is deceased (1986).
It is hoped that "America's Home Today"s voters will have compassion for Florence and the condition of her home, and vote her a home makeover.
